Program Overview

Sustainable Agriculture Through Precision Irrigation

Launched in early 2025, this carbon credit initiative implements precision irrigation upgrades across Turkish farmland in the Konya Basin. The program helps farmers transition from conventional irrigation to subsurface drip irrigation (SDI) for alfalfa, corn, and sugar beets.

Subsurface drip irrigation reduces nitrous oxide emissions by preventing excessive water saturation, improves fertilizer efficiency, increases soil carbon sequestration, lowers water consumption, and enhances drought resilience—all while generating verified carbon credits under Verra's Improved Agricultural Land Management (VM0042) methodology.

Carbon credit revenues subsidize SDI installation costs, making modern irrigation solutions more accessible to farmers while providing direct economic incentives for sustainable practices.

Environmental Benefits
